After finishing my MSc in ‘Advanced Textiles and Performance Clothing’, at the University of Leeds, I was fortunate enough to continue my interest in medical textiles, by studying for a PhD. My research will focus on the electrospinning of nanofibrous materials, made from natural and synthetic polymers for novel wound dressings. The focus will concentrate on developing a suitable material, capable of absorbing wound exudate and also delivering antibacterial properties to the wound. With recent advancements in electrospinning, a new machine developed by ELMARCO, known as ‘NANOSPIDER’, will be the predominant technology used within my research.
