Research Interests

Filtration of Matabolytes in Nanofibrous Nonwovens

The research concerns the formation and structure-property relationships of nanofibrous nonwoven fabrics formed by various techniques including electrospinning and fluid jet entanglement. The field of research is therefore nanotechnology in technical textile materials and will span natural and synthetic polymer materials. The research is principally concerned with the fluid flow through nanofibroues nonwoven networks and will involve theoretical modelling and experimental validation studies. This is of particular importance in filtration, medicine and hygiene and in personal protective equipment amongst others. The research will build on previous studies conducted in Leeds on the modelling of permeability in fibrous networks.
