Welcome to the School of Design at the University of Leeds. The School is a unique multi-disciplinary environment where you are exposed to new ideas and broader horizons. An exciting range of degree courses in fashion design, textile design, graphic and communication design, art and design, fashion marketing and materials technology are on offer and whichever path you choose to follow, your course will be inspiring and stimulating and will prepare you well for your future career.

The School of Design has a long and distinguished history. Since our foundation in 1874, we have established a reputation as one of the world’s leading textile centres. However more recent developments have seen the School expand its core focus to include the dynamic and constantly evolving areas of graphic design, fashion design, contemporary art practice and design and materials technology.

Design, Colour, Textile Materials and Sustainability are key elements in the ongoing success of the School and the recent investments in the School in facilities and equipment have reinforced our commitment to create an excellent environment for student development and enhancing graduate employability. This sustained and continuous investment (over £2M in the last year alone) is enabled through the University and the School but also equally importantly through generous support of The Worshipful Company of Clothworkers of the City of London. Indeed, the main building in which the School is accommodated was erected by the Worshipful Company of Clothworkers and was one of the earliest on the campus.
